This week you covered a large number of inherited metabolic diseases. These diseases are summarized in In many cases, these diseases will require specific lifestyle changes to prevent the illness (many times the modification of diet). As a nurse, it is critical that you can deliver appropriate lifestyle and dietary information to the patient (of parents of the patient) that has been diagnosed with one of these metabolic disorders. Your assignment this week is to pick one metabolic disorder and create a document that introduces the disease to the patient (and the patient stakeholders) and outlines appropriate lifestyle choices that addresses the metabolic disorder.
